Precision Matthews, a U.S.-based manufacturer of metalworking machinery, serves hobbyists, professionals, and industrial shops with a wide range of precision equipment. To better support their growing product catalog and customer expectations, they needed a modern eCommerce platform that was scalable, low-maintenance, and easier for their internal team to manage.
Precision Matthews’ WordPress/WooCommerce site had become difficult to manage and scale. Non-technical staff struggled with everyday tasks, plugin conflicts disrupted operations, and performance issues affected customer experience. The limited app ecosystem required expensive custom development just to support basic business needs. They needed a solution that could reduce operational overhead, improve performance, and support growth without the complexity.
Zaelab migrated Precision Matthews to Shopify, delivering a fully custom-built theme designed to handle a large catalog and dynamic product content. While the Empire theme provided an initial framework, Zaelab rebuilt the experience from the ground up, adding metafield-powered tables, collapsible content blocks, and smart availability messaging.
Throughout the project, Zaelab prioritized usability and long-term scalability. The new theme was built to be intuitive for the internal team to manage without constant developer support, while still delivering a sophisticated shopping experience for customers. With close collaboration at every phase, from content modeling to final testing, Zaelab ensured that the end product aligned with Precision Matthews’ operational goals and brand values.
Checkout Blocks and AfterSell were used to replicate Precision Matthews’ advanced delivery options and upsell services without custom development. Customers can now select free and paid delivery preferences directly in checkout, improving UX and driving additional revenue.
Matrixify enabled efficient bulk import/export of product data, streamlining the move from WooCommerce to Shopify while preserving catalog accuracy and structure.
Easy Product Add Ons allowed customers to personalize machines with multiple input types and conditional logic replicating key features from the legacy site while improving admin manageability.
Webgility was used to connect Shopify to QuickBooks Online, automating the flow of order and accounting data for improved operational efficiency.
